They have gone from being reasonably balanced to becoming a John Howard cheer squad. ???

I can't read Murdoch rags anymore.

Try living in Brisbane, nothing but a Murdoch tabloid and suburbans. I often buy the SMH a few days afterwards when in the city.

There is the new fairfax newspaper in Brisbane.

I agree with all of the above about murdoch newspapers. Really tabloidy, going the way of the UK.

Primarily driven by Shanahan and his cheerleading. I must admit, I still read it as it has great national and world news. But the editorials and political commentary is generally crap.

Have a look at the paper now. Shanahan is praising Rudd, saying that he'll be the greatest PM. Other commentators are ripping into Howard, attacking him for megalomania and hubris. Looks like the GG remains the GG...

Yeah, the Oz must employ a bunch of gymnasts because the backflips are coming thick and fast.

May I just say I find the words "hubris" and "gaffe" quite hilarious, and quite specifically used by politicians. I guess you can't really say "up himself" and "fuck up". :D

In my dictionary "hubris" and "Howard" are on the same page...

I'm from Sydney, each morning I read all three of our major newspapers.

It's rather Ironic what I find. Blatantly, the Australian seems riddled with Praise for Rudd, yet ghastly against his policies. The contributors, I find are also very supportive of liberal policies, but not the party in the name of the word. The Herald I find to have a good balance of Bias between Authors. However, specifically the Opinion section can have an article lambasting a labor pledge and writing of the downfalls of the leadership, while below can have an article supporting it in all it's metaphorical glory.
